Common gaps in AI vendor responses

Cloud-region as a sovereignty proxy. A vendor proposes a Gulf-region cloud deployment and treats it as a sovereignty answer. It is not. The control plane, the model registry, the observability backend, and the support engineers usually sit in the vendor's home jurisdiction, so foreign-state legal access risk persists regardless of the data plane's geography.
Missing model lifecycle. The response specifies an architecture but not a lifecycle. No retraining schedule, no evaluation harness, no drift monitoring, no rollback path. The institution is buying a model snapshot, not an operational service.
Vendor-controlled keys. The encryption section reads well until the reader notices that the keys are managed by the vendor's key service. The institution loses cryptographic custody and, with it, the ability to enforce the cross-border posture in practice.
Conflated supplier disclosure. The response names the prime contractor but omits the sub-processors handling telemetry, observability, support, or model evaluation. Each is a supplier in its own right under the framework.
Generic incident playbooks. The vendor copies a generic IT incident response procedure and does not address AI-specific events: prompt injection, training-data poisoning, hallucination cascades, regurgitation of training-time personal data.
